Our Vegetable CSA programs:
We offer year-round 100% certified organic produce to our community through two CSA programs. Check them out below!
But what is a CSA, or Community Supported Agriculture?
Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) is a marketing tool for farmers that allows the consumer to pre-purchase a "share" of the harvest for the season. Allowing farmers more time to focus on stewarding the land, and producing food for their communities.
There are many rewards to taking part in a CSA from bumper crops, to knowing your farmers, and more of your community.
Each week we will divide our seasonal harvests with our shareholders and share with them each season’s bounties.
Seven Reasons to Join Clagett Farm's CSA
Because your purchases should reflect what's important to you.
Fresh! Most produce is harvested the same day you receive it.
Delicious! We choose varieties for their flavor, not their ability to endure cross-country travel.
It's your farm! You can meet your farmers, see how we grow your food, and even lend a hand.
Local! Purchasing a share keeps your food dollars in our local economy and helps to preserve farmland.
Healthy! Your share will encourage you to eat more fresh vegetables, and to eat them in season when they are most nutritious, flavorful, and environmentally friendly.
Organic and Bay-friendly! Our produce is free of petrochemicals. We use only safe, natural techniques to fertilize our soil and manage pests and weeds. The health of our eco-system, our staff, and our community is our top priority. We do not use genetically modified seeds. We also do not need to use additional packaging or fuel ,with less food needing to travel long distances.
Good neighbors! We distribute about 35 percent of our fresh produce each week to food pantries, as well as offer reduced price shares to families that qualify as low-income.
Our Donation Partnerships
We have donated over 700,000 pounds of organic vegetables to families in need in the last 30 years!
For more than 30 years, the Chesapeake Bay Foundation's Clagett Farm has provided free, fresh produce to people living in poverty and near-poverty near Washington, D.C. through a project called From the Ground Up. The project is a collaboration with Capital Area Food Bank that blends local, sustainable organic agriculture with social justice. Through the years this has grown into the partnerships we have today in Prince George’s County.
We work closely with Shabach! Empowerment Center in Landover, MD a Capital Area Food Bank Partner donating to them through out our whole 26 week growing season.
Since 2020, during the pandemic, we have been growing our partnerships to help meet the higher demand of those in need of fresh produce in Prince George’s County. Working with PGC Food Rescue we are able to distribute food each week to a smaller network of food pantries and schools.
