Colorful Cabbage Slaw
This year we speedily harvested the spring cabbages so quickly we didn’t even take one photo so enjoy this one of Elizabeth from last year! These are crunchy, juicy, sweet green cabbages that will hold well in your fridge until you’re ready for an easy slaw like this with carrots, fennel, and herbs. Other options are beef stuffed cabbage leaves, homemade fresh curtido for tacos, or grilled cabbage wedges. Enjoy!
New items on U-Pick this week!
Reminder that U-picking hours are Monday-Saturday, 8am-6pm. Please do not come to the farm on Sundays, as we do not have staff on site who can be available in case of an emergency. If the main gates are closed when you arrive you can follow the paved road to the right, and then follow the curve of the road back to the left. This will take you in a loop around the main deer-fenced area and up to the wash station/parking lot.
There are an abundance of gorgeous green, purple, and yellow beans still in the field for this week only, so if you’re ready to brave the heat and bugs get after them! These are located in the field closest to the three high tunnels, inside the big deer fence. Pickled, canned, or raw in a salad your green bean future awaits you!
Make it stand out
More sunflowers are blooming in the field below the main parking lot. For both bean and flower locations, if you come during the evening and the gate is closed, you can open it to get in to pick. Please be sure to close it securely with the chain when you leave. The ground is an uneven farm road so parking outside the fence and walking in is a good option. Look out for the red signs indicating where to pick!
