Farm Updates

The first hard frost arrived over the weekend, signaling we’re truly inching towards winter. With just three weeks left of our Main Season shares (including this one), we're savoring every moment and every harvest.

Before the frost hit, we worked diligently to clear plants like our beloved peppers to enjoy one more week of sweet peppers and poblanos. Because once they’re gone, they’re always fondly missed! We also have one more week of green tomatoes in store for you that will ripen well on the counter inside at a warmer temperature.

This season has been one for the books—a beautiful bounty despite a few weather challenges along the way, with several dry periods, like the one we are in now.

Moving towards the colder months we will start reflecting on what we learned. We’re filled with gratitude for each crop and every lesson, all of which help us grow and improve for seasons to come. Over these final weeks, we’re excited to bring you another harvest of hearty beets, bunches of kale, collards, and chard, and a second round of sweet potatoes, along with some odds and end treasures coming in our fall greens field.

As we wind down this chapter, we hope you savor the rich flavors and colors of fall at the farm and in each share. Thank you for being a part of this journey with us—it’s been a joy growing for you, and we can’t wait to bring you every last bit of autumn’s goodness!

Keep the shares coming through the Winter Season!

Check out our next season’s offerings with shares starting in December.

Share’s start in less than 2 months and we are selling fast!!!!

Fun Volunteer Opportunities with CBF

Oysters:
Get outside in the crisp fall weather and build reef balls with CBF! Reef balls are hollow, concrete domes pocked with holes, used to create vertical structure habitats for oysters and many other important Bay species. Volunteers will assist CBF staff by assembling and disassembling molds at the oyster center in Shady Side, Maryland.

Please note: There are multiple days of events, so you can choose the day that works best for you. Want to sign up for multiple events? You can do that, too!

Register: Reef Ball Build- Day 1

Tree Planting Events:
We have several opportunities to get outdoors and get involved in our restoration projects in the soil! Attendees will learn about CBF's farm stewardship program, regenerative agriculture, and its role in mitigating climate change, improving water quality while providing nutrient-dense food. All attendees will receive a Maryland Farm calendar which has information on the importance of supporting local farms for water quality, climate change, and the local economy.

Register: CBF Events Calendar November 9 or November 14
