Farm Updates

With just six weeks left in the season, we’re winding down—but you can still look forward to an abundance of fall crops! The rain has done wonders, helping them thrive. Even some of the summer ones are seeing a little resurgence, like all of the pepper varieties.

Our cover crop has also gotten off to an amazing start, with many seeds already germinating and now a few inches tall. Establishing a strong early stand is key, as it allows the root systems to grow deep, maximizing the soil health benefits. That said, we wouldn’t mind a break from the rain! We still have some seeding to do for our final round of salad greens, like arugula and spicy mix. Once the fields dry out and the tractors can get back to work, you can expect lettuce to take center stage in the coming weeks.

The crew is all also proud to report that our tomatoes are still ripening! You can expect one or two ripe tomatoes to accompany this week's bounty. Peppers and eggplants, our remaining summer crops, should last until the first frost. And don’t forget—you can freeze peppers easily! Simply slice them, remove the seeds, and pop them into a freezer bag. They’re great for tossing into a sauté or as a pizza topping later.

As for greens, get ready to incorporate them into everything! We’ll have a bounty of cabbages, from the classic green heads to the wavy-leafed Savoys. Our kale and collards are lush, and fun root crops like beets and carrots are also on the way. Lastly, keep an eye out for sweet potatoes in the final weeks!

Keep the shares coming through the Winter Season!

Check out our next season’s offerings with shares starting in December.
