Farm Updates

As we reach the midpoint of the main season, we now begin to retrace our steps through the first 13 weeks in reverse order. However, we're determined to hold onto summer for as long as possible—hopefully until October rolls around.

The farm is in great shape, with the crew successfully managing the final succession of tomatoes, which are looking fantastic! Eggplant and peppers are peaking now, so enjoy them while they are abundant. We’re also excited to start harvesting our ginger this week. Fresh ginger is a special treat—it doesn’t require peeling like the cured type found at the grocery store, and we guarantee you’ll taste the difference. Plus, it freezes nicely whole and can be grated as needed.

In the past two weeks, we've also begun transplanting fall crops into the ground, taking full advantage of the excellent growing conditions as we head into autumn. With shorter daylight hours on the horizon, we're making the most of the time we have left. The root crops are growing nicely and with one more weeding will be able to get to a good harvest size.

This has truly been the year of the cucumber! Thanks to our high tunnel and a shift to continuous transplanting throughout the season instead of direct seeding, we've been able to include cucumbers in our CSA shares since week one. This approach has helped us avoid gaps in planting due to poor germination, and giving the plants a 2-3 week head start on weed pressure has made a huge difference. We expect to have cucumbers available for at least another week, and our upcoming planting might even yield one more batch before the season wraps up
