Ways to pay for a CSA share?

We have options available for you besides paying in full, all at one time:

What is offered during the winter?

Each week, we aim to provide about 8-9 items per share. You can expect to see staples like kale, collards, chard, lettuce, assorted radishes, arugula, spinach, spicy mix, turnips, carrots, rutabaga, potatoes, sweet potatoes, winter squash, and an assortment of herbs regularly. Other items such as garlic, fennel, kohlrabi, beets, and broccoli will be available from time to time. We'll also add a special touch with the occasional brussel sprouts, scallions, and cabbage harvest.

What if I missed a week or will can’t make a pick-up in time?
Let us know using our Share Request Form, and we can help you get your produce another day. This will be linked in every blog email.

  1. For missed weeks
Like the main season, you may pick up some double shares! Unlike the main season though, we will ask you to fill out the Share Request Form ahead of time, as this will help us properly plan and harvest the correct amount needed during the slow-growing winter season. We will make every effort to accommodate you, but please request your double share by Thursday night on the week of your pickup. Friday morning we are in the field harvesting, and more notice is always better. If you know you’ll be traveling far in advance, go ahead and fill out the form early, so we can know you expect double shares on certain weeks. When in doubt, email us and we will do all we can to make it work. Thank you.

  2. You may also request to have a boxed share left for you to get after the pick-up.
It will be located in the large walk-in fridge on the backside of the CSA pick-up. Signs will be pointing the way to the correct place, and you will see a dedicated pick-up cart inside, with instructions for what to take, and a whiteboard for checking off your name. The sooner you pick up the fresher your veg will be, but we will leave your share for the following week. After that it will be donated to our food bank partners. Please email us if you expect to pick up it up later than one week following the pick-up day.
Our large gates may be closed to protect our crops, you can drive around this fence by continuing straight and then making a left at the corner of the fence to head back towards the three large barns.

Please do this by filling out the same Share Request Form, before 1:00 p.m. on the pick-up day
We are not able to bag your share earlier than the pick-up time, as we may be harvesting then.

What if I would like to send a friend or other family member?

  • It’s easy! You may allow anyone to pick up your vegetables for you. All they will need to do is tell us the name used to purchase the share when they come to the pickup, and we will tell them how to pick up the CSA share.

What should I bring when I pick up my share?

  • Bags and containers to carry your vegetables. We do usually have some bags on site, but it's always better to reuse your own.

What do I do when I arrive for my pick-up?

To be sure you are in the right place
Clagett Farm pick-up:
Located at 11904 Old Marlboro Pike, Upper Marlboro MD 20772.
Enter from Old Marlboro Pike and follow the big blue signs to the CSA pick-up/Farm Store

  1. When you arrive at the front of the CSA line, sign in with the name used to purchase your share

  2. We will list what produce you can take on a board adjacent to each pickup table as you go around the loop to all four benches, please leave the center aisle for staff to keep the bounty moving as they restock

  3. If you don't recognize something or are unsure how to cook it, we would love to give you advice about how we prepare it.

  4. Take home to enjoy!!!

What to do for inclement weather?

During the winter months, there may be days when inclement weather makes travel more challenging for your pick-up directly at the farm. We want to assure you that we will provide plenty of notice regarding our plans to ensure your pick-up is both convenient and safe, even when the weather is less than ideal.

We will be sure to get information out in our emails as soon as we know the impacts of the weather to the CSA and how we will adapt to it to keep providing fresh veggies over the winter season. Updates can be found also at the top on our main homepage in the farm updates.

Are dogs welcome at the farm?

Due to our livestock and many guests/volunteers, no dogs are allowed to be walked on the farm.

Can I drive off-road (non-gravel paths) on the farm?

No, we ask that no vehicles other than farm staff vehicles go beyond the gravel paths around our main driveway to the CSA pick-up and the parking area.

Any other questions, please contact us here.
