Here are some of the most common questions that we get on the farm:
What is offered during the winter?
What if I missed or will be late to a pick-up?
What if I would like to send a friend?
What should I bring when I pick up my share?
What do I do when I arrive for my pickup?
Ways to pay for a CSA share?
We have options available for you besides paying in full, all at one time:
Installment plan: We offer an installment based payment plan the allows you to pay for your CSA
Reduced price shares: We offer a reduced-price share to families with low incomes. You are eligible if you receive WIC, SNAP, SSI disability, or if your income falls below 185 percent of the federal poverty level. Check here to see if you qualify and fill out form for next steps.
What is offered during the winter?
Each week, we aim to provide about 8-9 items per share. You can expect to see staples like kale, collards, cabbage, lettuce, scallions, radishes, arugula, turnips, sweet potatoes, garlic, and winter squash regularly. Other items such as fennel, chard, kohlrabi, beets, carrots, daikons, spinach, and possibly broccoli will make occasional appearances. We'll also add a special touch with the occasional splash of pea shoots and microgreens.

What if I missed a week or will can’t make a pick-up in time?
There are a couple of options!
For missed weeks
This year we are excited to offer more pick-up flexibility, as shareholders can now pick up some double shares!
Unlike the main season though, we will ask you to fill out the Share Request Form, which will be linked in every blog email. We will also need notice at a minimum of three days in advance of picking up a double share otherwise we will not be able to accommodate. You may also request to have a boxed share left for you to get after the pick-up.
It will be located in the large walk-in fridge on the backside of the CSA pick-up for you to grab when you can. Signs will be pointing the way to the correct place, and you will see a dedicated pick-up cart inside where your veggies will remain fresh for when you are able to arrive.
Our large gates may be closed to protect our crops, you can drive around this fence by continuing straight and then making a left at the corner of the fence to head back towards the three large barns.
Please do this by filling out the same Share Request Form, before 1;00 p.m. on the pick-up day
We are not able to bag your share ahead of pick-up as that is when we will be harvesting.
What if I would like to send a friend or other family member?
It’s easy! You may allow anyone to pick up your vegetables for you. All they will need to do is tell us the name used to purchase the share when they come to the pickup, and we will tell them how to pick up the CSA share.
What should I bring when I pick up my share?
Bags and containers to carry your vegetables. We do usually have some bags on site, but it's always better to reuse your own.
What do I do when I arrive for my pick-up?
To be sure you are in the right place
Clagett Farm pick-up: Located at 11904 Old Marlboro Pike, Upper Marlboro MD 20772.
Enter from Old Marlboro Pike and follow the big blue signs to the CSA pick-up/Farm Store
When you arrive at the front of the CSA line, sign in with the name used to purchase your share
We will list what produce you can take on a board adjacent to each pickup table as you go around the loop to all four benches, please leave the center aisle for staff to keep the bounty moving as they restock
If you don't recognize something or are unsure how to cook it, we would love to give you advice about how we prepare it.
Take home to enjoy!!!
What to do for inclement weather?
During the winter months, there may be days when inclement weather makes travel more challenging for your pick-up directly at the farm. We want to assure you that we will provide plenty of notice regarding our plans to ensure your pick-up is both convenient and safe, even when the weather is less than ideal.
We will be sure to get information out in our emails as soon as we know the impacts of the weather to the CSA and how we will adapt to it to keep providing fresh veggies over the winter season. Updates can be found also at the top on our main homepage in the farm updates.
Are dogs welcome at the farm?
Due to our livestock and many guests/volunteers, no dogs are allowed to be walked on the farm.
Can I drive off-road (non-gravel paths) on the farm?
No, we ask that no vehicles other than farm staff vehicles go beyond the gravel paths around our main driveway to the CSA pick-up and the parking area.
Any other questions, please contact us here.
